Leather grip question??!!

I put a leather grip on my Robertson styk several months ago and I love it.. It's definitely better than a slick  wood grip but not quite as "non- slip " as I want. A black shur- grip is nice but I'm staying with my homemade leather. Anyways , to my question, is there something I can put on it to make it " tacky" and be a little more "non-slip". I thought about pine tar but wasn't so sure about that.. I tried scuffing the leather a little bit with a pumice stone which helped. Any help would be nice.. It's ok to just tell me to leave it as is but I just wanted some professional insight! Haha thanks. GBH

Have you tried a rosin bag for your hand,might give you alittle more grip.

The more you shoot it, the more "Broke In" it will become.  Just like wearing the blisters off of a new shovel, you need to wear the shine off of the leather.

I've been looking for something similar to help my glove stick. I'd try the rosin as I believe Pine tar is bad for leather.

You might try a good coat of Johnson's past floor wax..sounds funny but it seemed to make my grips a little more tacky..buff as suggested.
Try it on some scrap leather if you have any left.

PM my hunting buddy Bamboo. He just put a leather grip on my new Kempf Longbow this past Saturday. There is no way your hand will slip from this grip.

Nice leather grip completes the bow. You'll get used to it pdq. How about some pix?

I use Future acrylic floor finish,mixed 50/50 with water as a finish coat on all my leather grips.It is a finish coat that many custom leather workers use.It helps repel dirt,water,sweat and oils from the hand.It seems to add some tack to the leather in addition to protecting it.

It is also an excellent,non-yellowing finish for antlers and skulls.

here are some pics staitera, it was "prettier" before i took the pumice stone to it. it made it better but was curious if i could make it any "tackier".  drewsbow, i killed a beaver back in the fall and trimmed off the tail hide and had it ready then it dried too hard and i couldnt get it to wrap around my riser like i wanted.i know 3 rivers sells them but i like my homemade stuff.. i'm sure i did something wrong in the "tanning" process. anyway, i went to leather. so here are some pics. not a bad grip for a 6 buck piece of leather and artifical sinew and about 20 min of my time..pretty functional.. thanks for the comments again

I've found a zillion uses for string wax, the soft white stuff in the push up tube. Just rub a little bow string wax on it. Don't buff it in, just drag the wax over it and spread it around with your thumb. It adds just enough tackiness without making a permanent mess.

String wax also works great to take the reflection off bow limbs, quiets creaking in take down bow limbs, and is good to rub on dry split knuckles. Works pretty good on bow strings too.

Buff it up with shoe shine wax.  Sounds like it would make it slicker but it doesn't.
