Anyone have a chance to shoot a Shrew Hill and how it compares in feel to a Howard Hill ?

Thanks in advance

I'm playing with one right now that I got off the classifieds here and it is superbly crafted!!!  Let me say first that I am a fan of the Ekins at HH Archery!  I imagine that for each person it is a personal taste thing.  My Shrew Hill reminds me of the one and only John Schulz made longbow that I had; and I am really taken with that style/design.  If I get through playing with this Shrew, I may put it back up for someone else to play with.  Back to the Shrew...I've shot it side by side with a HH Wesley Special that I currently have and they are both whisper quiet, great looking, and cast arrows with authority.  I wouldn't want to pick between the two!  Mr. LaClair has himself another offering to be totally proud of!!!
Have a nice day!

Kestimator-

How do you like the thin handle on the ShrewHill?

I personally like the thinner handle, it keeps my bow on target and reduces torquing. When Craig(Howard Hill Archery)builds my bow's, I always ask Craig to make the thinner grip.

I like the thinner handle a lot!!  This bow was not built for me.  I am the second owner and the depth of the handle is about 1/4" too big for me for "perfection", but still awesome!!    :)     My Wesley has the dished grip and it is very comfortable too!!  I prefer the dished or thinner "wedge" over locator or straight at this time, though the Big Five that the Ekins made for me last January had a straight grip and was just fine.  Yes....I foolishly traded that one off too.  I've made peace with my trade-a-holic nature    :)    LOL!!!  I hadn't thought of asking the Ekins to make me a custom grip!  Thanks for sharing that tradlongbow!!

Craig calls the thin grip a "Racetrack Grip", it's a thin grip that's rounded on the back and belly. The "Centennial" model has that grip.

Very cool!!!!  Looks like you also have that little wedge on the side of the shelf that I prefer.  I didn't know that Mr. Ekin would do that.
Man!  This is not good.  I've been looking for an excuse to check in with Jason and see how his bison hunting went.  Ordering a new bow is not part of my "saving money program for 2012".  LOL!!!
I think that we may be taking this discussion away from the original topic of the Shrew Hill discussion.
To get back on topic...Shrew Hills are Great Bows..as are HH Archery Bows  :)  !!!
Have a nice day!
