Most economical longbow or recurve for a 10 year old son?

I don't want to spend a ton on something he is going to drag around behind him. He is tough on everything, but wants one to shoot with me. He is 4'10 and 85lbs.

Yup, Maddog or Black Rhino. My son shot a Rhino for several years. He's 14 now and has adopted my 50# Wing Thunderbird, passed the Rhino on to his little sister. Tough little bows, you won't go wrong with either.

Get some oak at the lumber yard and make a board bow he can beat on. My daughter loves hers.

i bought my nephew a polaris for under a $100 they are mostly for target shooting but you can get limbs that go from 15# all the way up to 40# for under $100. He shoots this bow in a 32# for 3d and loves it.

Buxndiverdux, at one time Black Rhino had a trade-in program. When a child or youth outgrew a bow, you could trade it in for a little heavier and longer one. Perhaps this would be a consideration in making your decision?

One thing to remember, kids draw a shorter draw and some "adult" bows will suit them fine. My grandson was given a Ben Pearson 35 # and at his draw he can pull it easily. He's 10. You might want to look for a used bow. That way they can shoot it forever.I originally bought him a Polaris with 20# limbs. The first shoot we went to he shot 2 complete rounds and numerous practice and was not tired out. It was apparent he needed a heavier bow.

Flinttim has it right. I bought my son ( who is 13 now ) a bear kodiak mag when he was 10. It is 40 at 28" he pulls maybe 25". He likes the size of the bow and the draw weight is not an issue. He shoot's it perty dang good too I must say. I think I give 150 or 175 bucks when I bought it and it's in excellant shape. Plus I dont think I'll have any trouble getting my money back if he ever decides to sell it. Good luck in whatever you decide. Lots of good suggestions on here!!
