Aluminum shaft buyers beware...

I've used Easton Legacy arrow shafts for many years and just got a rude awakening this morning.  I had just glued on nocks and was in the process of measuring the shafts to cut them off to my length.  I shoot a 31" arrow, so have always had to cut off one inch from the shaft.

To my surprise, when I measured the shaft from the throat of the nock to the end of the shaft it came out at thirty and one-quarter inches!  These arrow shafts have not been cut, and the anodizing at the end of the shaft was untouched.

Moral of the story...check how long the shafts are before proceeding!  I have talked with the supplier, and they will make it right with me, but I wasn't ready for giving up on Legacy shafts.

Wow, i wonder if easton started making them shorter. That would not work for me i shoot a 32" arrow. I remember the ones i always get were 33" and i had to cut off 1"

Was just looking at the 3Rivers 2012 master catalog, page 50; there is an aluminium chart giving spine, gpi and stock lenght.

I believe that it has changed some what; depending on the shaft size, you have 30", 30 1/8", 31", 31 1/8", 31 3/8", 31 1/2", 31 3/4", 32", 32 1/8", 32 1/4", 32 3/8".

I also ran into this same problem with Easton Camo Hunters in size 2215. The uncut 2215 shafts are supposed to be 33" in length and this length is stated on Easton's site.

When I received them, they were uncut as the anodization was still on the open rim at the end of the aluminum shaft.

Since these shafts come with Super Nocks already installed, from the bottom of the nock valley to the open end of the shaft was only 31 1/2". This infuriated me to no end because I shoot a 32" BOP (back of point) finished arrow.       :banghead:

I would bet my last dollar this is a corporate decision by the guy who is running Easton and that would be the CEO. He's cutting corners to save the company money, but it's the end customers like you and me who are getting cheated.

These head honcho types of guys need to be "tarred and feathered" and then run out of town on a rail.

I am re-ordering some legacy shafts, my wife accidentally got me 2117's rather than 2016's! Just waiting for the company to refund the original purchase, but now I found the Gold Tip traditional shafts, can't decide which one I want!!?!?!?

They probably took the line of thought that 90% of their customers cut off that extra inch and wouldn't notice. Kinda like the food comapnies keeping the same size package with less contents.

Maybe they are following the lumber industry, ever measure a 2x4.

They did the same thing to the carbon Flatlines.

Shaft length changes have been going on for a few years.

Ever notice that the 500def. carbons are hard to find in anything longer than 30.5". In years past they were 32".

If you look at the new black xx75 game getter the 500def/2016 are only 30.5"

The higher the spine the longer the shaft. really sucks for a fellow with a long draw.

When I ask Easton about this I was told that the reason for this is that most of the people using that light of spine are women and children.

I have had problems with ordering platinums for my wife and I found out that Easton has a range for the length and on some runs, they come out near the maximum length and some runs at the minimum length.

I think Easton has been fudging on the length for their hunting shafting, but not so on their target shafting since target shooters normally shoot longer arrows than hunters do in the same draw length.

I haven't been short changed on arrow shafting length when buying X7 Eclipse shafting which I now shoot in 2212 size.

Of course, when I call the place that I buy my X7 shafting from, I have them measure the 2212 shafting length before I place the order.
