I am really interested in a knife I saw on tv the other day. Hope ya'll can help. I was watching Eastons bow hunting with Fred Eclier and he has a knife on his belt but instead of being verticle like most knives its horazonial and its right in the front of the belt. I don't need the same knife but would like to have one like it, does any one make a knife like it that has at least a 4 1/2" blade. I would rather have a costom made (home made) knife that one of you guys made ,rather than buying a store bought one. Could I see some picks of the ones you guys have or have made please thanks Mike

You should go over to the knife makers section. I think Robtattoo has a build a long of the sheath Your asking about.

Any good quality sheath maker can make you a horizontal sheath to fit pretty much any knife.  check out mlknives.com . I had him make me one just like you are describing last year that is my everyday carry. Matt can make pretty much anything and I have seen some of the knives made by members and sponsors on this board that are awesome too.  I am sure one of the guys like srt or one of the others can help you out. Look under sponsor classifieds for some of the knife makers or under the knife section in the forum.  Good luck!

JimB

Find a knifemaker you like among the sponsors and check out Scott Teaschner's sheaths.

LONGSTYKES

Agree with JimB, Scott makes some awesome leather products. A great sheath.

I appreciate it, Mike. Holler if I can ever be of service.

Shawn Swafford made me a nearly identical twin of the one shown above, and it is a spectacular knife. Can't go wrong with that style, regardless of how fancy the wood is. The sheath is extremely nice; however, I haven't seen a sheath yet that is any nicer than the ones Scott Teaschner makes. Robin Severe is the only other guy I know who can compete with Scott, but there are some very talented sheath makers out there who could fix you right up. And there are some unbelievably talented bladesmiths and knife makers who are TradGang members (including, of course, Shawn Swafford, as you can see from the photos he posted). A couple of guys you might consider as well are Frank Scukanec (Sticshooter), Mike Stenstrom (Maineac) and Clarence Smitherman (Skullworks) who can also build you a very nice knife and sheath for a reasonable price. I have knives from all these guys, and can highly recommend all of them. And if you don't mind paying the price, there are some amazing knives from the ABS Bladesmiths like Doug Campbell, Lin Rhea, Karl Andersen and Jon Christensen (Jon is not on TradGang very often). You can see other knife makers on the knife forum or the sponsors' classified. Lots of great choices.

I love my crossdraw sheath. I had Art Vincent make me one for my Laclair skinner I forget I have it on most of the time.

Art calls it a canoe sheath

Is the particular knife that you want or just a crossdraw option?  You can get a sheath made (leather or kydex with a TekLok) that will probably meet the needs of any knife you carry.

Here's my Becker BK9 worn crossdraw for instance...

I am surprised that a 4 1/2" plus blade knife with a standard length handle is usable in a horizontal sheath.  I like horizontal carry, have a Dozier Slim Outdoorsman and two folders but can't imagine a long knife fit unless you are a very big man.  Would love to see pics of a 8 1/2" long knife on a belt horizontally.
