I've settled in on hardwoods specifically ash because of weight and toughness but difficult to get 8 out of a dozen to meet specs. 70#, 3-blade Woodsmans 200gr. upfront, 3 five inch shield cut wild turkey feathers which quickly stabilize, maintain shape and provide natural waterproof qualities. 750 gr. total.

Doug Fir or POC with 3 5" sheild goose feathers and a Zwickey head. O h and made by me of course

One covered in red blood, and still in one piece. Gold Tip trad, wich size depends on wich bow.But always gold tip.

GT Trad 3555's full-length with 3x4" elliptical feathers (quieter than shields), 50 gr insert, and 125 gr points/broadheads works very nicely for me--45 lb 60" Bear Super Kodiak off-the-shelf with about 27.5" draw.  Arrow weighs about 435 gr right at 10 gr per lb and smack-on Stu's calculator.  I'm shooting this setup for hunting, indoor, field, and 3D.

shoots with his heart in his bow that hits the mark.
