"Hunters Luck"

The hour found me venturing to the wood
Cold flakes of snow filled the air
Across the field the forest stood
As if hurrying me to be there

I enter the quiet so tranquil
And give care to look around
Dawns early light reveals a trail
But, a prancing fawn is all I found

Continue on I find my prey
My heart begins to sing
Nothing can define this day
Nor the flakes that seek my cheek to sting

But alas, the freezer will not be filled
For a warning came from the sky
I look to see the squawking crow
Glance down with evil eye

Touché' my old black friend
This round I see ye win
Let not peace for you, the morrow find
For I shall return to hunt again!

On a roll! What great verse narrative. I feel like I'm there.

Sounds like my normal day afield........   :biglaugh:
In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's there are few...So the most difficult thing is always to keep your beginner's mind...This is also the real secret of the arts: always be a beginner.  Shunryu Suzuki

There has to be a place for your talent in an outdoor publication. In my area we have a few Saturday outdoor radio shows. Very well done!
