Its been a tough deer hunting year for me. I took a nice hog on my first hunt in September to start of with and thought I was off to a great year. It went down hill from there, I had great hunts, just not successfully in the kill department. Had some near missis here in TN and Kentucky. Saw some good bucks but nothing worked out in trad range.
Well this evening it's gun either sex here at home and I headed to the woods for a quick hunt after work. I decided to try a ground hunt from a popo up blind. First for me. About dark I had 4 does come in to about 15 yards. I watched them for a while to see how they reacted to the blind. A few looked my way but they didndt pay it much mind. After 15 to 20 minutes I picked the biggest doe a loosed an arrow.
Double lung, 60 yards, meat on the ground. This was the latest in the season I have gone without taking a deer with my bow. With a couple of weeks only left, I thought it may not happen.
I was really impressed with the blind, I will use it again for sure. The deer just didn't notice it, and I didn't even brush it in much.
Taken with a bow I built ILF 58inch 55 pounds Magnus stinger BH

With a bow you built, 6 days before Christmas!?!?  Very cool!! You should roast a big length of backstrap wrapped in bacon for Xmas eve or day. Merry Christmas!!

Congrats!!  Glad a switch in tactics worked out for you!
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.
