why I need such stiff arrows. Just got a new recurve52@30 shooting a ce 250 31" with 200gr. point had to drop 50gr. to a 150 point to get them to bareshaft was 580 gr now 530 fly great but I am not used to the trajectory . I see everyone else shooting a lot less spine
The older I get the better I was

Night Wing

Sometimes it's the bow itself which dictates what it likes stiffness wise in an arrow..

My 37# recurve "loves" a very stiff arrow.

If you put on a thicker strike/side plate or built it out a little, you could shoot a weaker shaft.

2x what Cherokee Scout said. You can experiment with this by using masking tape and taping on an additional layer of leather until your arrows fly right. Just tape it up high so the arrow will be against the leather.

I have many bows that I love to fine tune.Every bow has its own preferences about the spine, also when they are of the same draw weight they can differ a lot in arrow tuning!

PS:a carbon arrow is very sensible in the lenght,a 1/4" of lenght makes a great difference in the spine, more than the point weight, like with the Alu and wood.

The long power stroke of a 30" draw may have a little something to do with it as well. A 31" arrow will behave differently with a 52# at 30" bow drawn to 30" than it will with a 52# at 28" bow drawn to 28" -- that power stroke is often overlooked, but it can make a difference. And, for the most part, I do agree that each bow does indeed have its own personality.

I agree with smokin joe with the drawlength factor.  I draw 31" and all my bows are right around 60# and building the super heavy, high FOC arrows that lots of people like is almost impossible.  Depending upon the center cut my bows shoot from .300-.400 spine and none of them can handle more than 175gr up front without weakening them too much.  The added pop with the long draw is very nice though.

Steelhead

I shoot CX Heritage 250s cut to 31" as well and draw 30 inches. My bows are around 50#s at 30.I use 50 grain brass insert and 150 grain heads. Most are cut to Center. Not past center.I use 8 strand D-10 or Astroflight strings

I like the heavy arrow.I dont shoot much over 20 yards though. So trajectory is not much concern for me.Maybe when you recalibrate the trajectory you will be consistant with em at longer range.

Great hunting arrow!

My tomahawk likes a stiff arrow.

I just got finished with a test kit from 3r with my super griz. It is 55# @28 and shoots 75/80 POC 31" with 125gr heads. My draw is almost 30". I would probably need a 340 in a carbon.

Elk whisperer

340 did not fly to well. even with long draws 30-31 I see archers shooting 500s in the low 50slb  I thought my aa 2020s would work but they are to week- thanks

I can tune most arrow spines out of my Tomahawk just depending on shaft length and tip weight.

Agree some that the bow dictates the spine as does the shooter, that said I think you are stilloverspined. Shawn
