I absolutely did not in anyway mean to demean this bow. I love it. To me the scroll work looked stenciled and I have no problem with that. I have used patterns myself in carving. Some I drew and some were pre drawn. I carve wood and leather and especially use a lot of patterns on leather. It does not cheapen a 10,000, saddle to use a pattern and I don't believe it would cheapen that bow.
The unique aspect of this bow is very important plus the taste in how its done. I know the first time I saw it it really grabbed me.
Bowhunters are funny though. I hear all the time that my bows are too fancy , yet we all love a bow like this. Go figure. Personally I love it. I have not carved or checkered or inlaid my bows to this point simply because I was already catching too much flack about them being too pretty to hunt with. Any way, sorry you took what I said wrong , it was sure not how I meant it.

God bless you all, Steve

Here is a bow I built out of koa and spalted maple, I have been told many times by different people that they would not own a bow like this because it is too pretty to hunt with. I say put a sock on it.  :biglaugh:

I was thinking it looked like a stencil myself...But it looks cool.

QuoteI don't see how that could be conscrewed as a stencil
It's amazing what a CNC machine can do.... you make the stencil pattern with the machine, then use it as a pattern doing the scroll work "by Hand"

I think what Sixby was referring to was the difference between "Free Hand",  and using a pattern. btw.... a pattern of this sort would be considered a stencil, even if the stencil was made by hand.

good looking bows on this thread...    :goldtooth:
