Hunted at the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant last wknd and it was some tough hunting. According to their web page, 10 bucks and 17 does taken on the 2 1/2 day hunt by 300(?) hunters.

It was pretty warm, around 90 each day and windy. Usually if you kill a doe there, you get a free pass to come back the next year. They announced there would be no doe passes this year because of high fawn mortality due to the severe drought in the area. Passes will still be given if you kill a hog, however.

This was my fifth time to draw in in the last 25 or so years and I've never seen such a lack of deer movement, though I'm sure later hunts will be better. I did manage to take a doe on this hunt, but I never even saw a buck and that's unheard of there. Good luck to all who drew later hunts, we still had a great time!

Congratulations on the doe, sorry to hear they dropped the quality pass, what luck huh? Harvest numbers don't sound bad, early yet and the conditions you mentioned.  I've been through MAAP three times and the roster was never filled. Close to ten percent pretty good

Glad to hear you downed one at least, since it was such a tough hunt.  What area were you in? I was there 6 years ago (Hominy) and the conditions were just as you described. Took a hog but they didn't offer quality passes at all that year, so I know how ya feel. I will be in Boggy this year on Nov. 4-6 and can't wait!

My 1st hunt there was opening weekend. HOT and WINDY! Never saw a buck and only 5 does the whole weekend.

2mad, I drew in Deer Creek, but when I got there they asked if I wanted to move to Hominy so I jumped on that! They had some kind of operations going on in Deer Creek that wknd. Got to spend some quality time with my 2 grown sons so it was worth it!

I am going 10/28-10/30.
I hope the weather stays cool.
I got question, due they allow you to shoot the 2 deer I paid for but just don't have doe pass or can you only shoot 1 deer total?

Ill see you there, its going to fun.

Whipbow- you can still shoot 2 deer either sex. They also said you could take 2 bucks IF the 1st one scores 115 P&Y or better.

They did this exact thing the first time I went.  At least the Depot is consistant, it seems.

We'll be there Oct. 28-30 in Deer Creek. 1st time drawn so it should be an experience.  Was there any water?  I read where the fruits and acorns were scarce and the food plots didn't turn out very well this year because of the drought.
