New string, Quieter bow.

WOW! Yeah, that's how i'm going to start off this thread because I am just amazed.

A while ago I posted a thread asking what to do to get my bow to shoot quieter and the responses were almost all the same. I was advised to get some silencers or adjust my brace height and then there was a member who suggested I try a different string. His name is Allen, his screen name escapes me at the moment as I accidentally deleted the PM's we exchanged, and he had me browse the strings they sell on Lefties R Us.

After a few messages and emails and a phone call he had helped me figure out what string I wanted and assured me that it would make my bow quieter. He answered all my questions, and believe me there were a LOT of questions, and when we were through I emailed him my order and he got to it and had it sent the next day. After a few days of wait it's here and again... WOW!

I was a bit skeptical at the width of the string at first and the directions he gave me on how to adjust the nock point, well, I didn't understand. It looked too low so I knocked my arrow and to my surprise it looked perfectly rested on the shelf. I decided to loose a few arrows and immediately after the first shot I noticed the difference in noise and, I'm not sure if the string can effect this, but some hand shock I was feeling vanished as well. The first arrow I shot flew true and landed right where I was looking. That's a big deal for me because even when I'm blank baling I have the need for a few practice shots before my groups are tight. I was satisfied with the nocking point.

I may adjust it later but I'm content right now.

He was right, all i hear with this string is the air whizzing through the fletching and the point penetrating my target with a satisfyingly loud POP.

A big thank you to Allen at Lefties R-Us. I highly recommend giving their strings a try. I'm expecting a new bow soon at higher poundages (two sets of limbs) and will DEFINITELY be ordering strings from them once I work up to the weight.

I was confident that a good 8 strand D10 string was just what the doctor ordered for your bow... I love it when a plan comes together.

Some strings on different bows can be quieter.I make my own strings,I have bows that are quieter with 450+,some with D97 and some with 8125.Different srings can help make a bow quiet and how it is made.

Yep all my bows strings except for one were twisted by Allen Shafer. Good stuff no doubt. I bet you saw a speed improvement as well.

absolutely. Having some troubles now with my grip though. I shoot three arrows at a time and one seems to be shooting to the left. I'm assuming I'm torquing the bow but I left the arrows in the target to mark them tomorrow for further review. I'd be a little upset if one of my new carbons decided to bend, might be a tweaking issue though.

I make my own strings also , but have heard good things about LRU before .
I just received a new custom bow  a few weks ago and was stunned at how noisey it was on shooting it. Finally decided to take off the Endless string it came with and replace it with a Flemish  String. The string that came with the bow was endless 10 strand  of  ???. NOT B50 thats for sure  but what exact material it was  who knows .  I replaced it with a 15 strand FFII  Flemish string and then took it to my sons to shoot last sunday . Same brace height and same nock point   SHoots almost dead silent now and I can see NO difference in performance  in the bow .  The string does make a difference  in some bows .
