Nice job Bill............Time to get on some deer.

A downed animal is most certainly the object of a hunting trip, but it becomes an anticlimax when compared to the many other pleasures of the hunt.

Congrats on the bird!

I've heard many gobbles while sitting in a tree stand in the fall.  Shooting one of those birds from said treestand has been another story altogether.....those birds have some serious eyesight!  We get two fall turkey tags with our license and I'm seriously lucky to fill one of them in any given year.  Not for want of opportunities mind you!  I'd much rather get one of those young hens than a spring gobbler for the table.  Guess I have to think positive......this year will be different!

Sat. morning I went to check my trail cameras when I heard these guys chasing deer. It went on for over an hour when they finally put a deer by me so i can be an "eye witness" which Fish and Game needs.

I have pics of these guys going all the way back to April and since I have reported them I have heard a lot more about them. The owner feels they can "run free" anytime she wants them to. I talked to Fish and Game this morning and they will speak with her and decide what to do from there. So, not only did I see it I have them on camera....3 times. I have all the evidence Fish and Game needs. NOW, I can think about deer. Went out yesterday afternoon put on my leafy suit and made a nifty ground blind in some beech  trees. Had two deer come within 20 yards but I never saw them  because of the thick brush....apparently they didn't want to come into the open hardwoods and get shot at. The good news is they never knew I was there. They were feeding and just didn't make the right turn. Lots of nuts where I was so they had a lot of latitude to move and they just went right by me.

We can't shoot does in NH until Oct.1. When I left I would have been unable to see if those 2 deer were bucks or not unless they had impressive head gear. The good news is I didn't educate them and I know where they are feeding. I'm a day away from filling the antibiotic Rx the doc gave me last week. This "cold" thing is just dragging me down physically.

Good luck to you all as well. And, Dave, please shoot the bear!
