Arrow understanding and selection help

My bow is 45@28 I have a draw of 31 which with my bow is 54@31.  My local archery shop sold me Bemans 400's classic's. I just happened to be on the Bemans site it seemed to me to that I needed 340's. When I went back and asked the  shop clerk about his choice, He gave me a story on stiffness and a few other terms I didn't understand. So what are your thoughts?

I shoot 56# @ 31" and use the beman 340. With that long of a draw most people dont realise that we need a 32" arrow and at that lenght it needs to be stiff. A 340 full lenght (32") should work good for you. you may need to play with point and insert weight. I would try the classics they have alittle more weight to them.

would someone explain to me how aluminum makes a difference over brass, how the weight of the tip can manipulate and arrow as well?
What is the difference between 4 or 5 inch feathers, please don't say an inch.

I thinks the 400s are fine, leave 32"s and try 175 point weight maybe a tad more maybe a tad less. You do not say if it is a recurve, LB or if it is cut past center, FF string?? Lots goes into the equation but I feel you would be stiff with a 340 even left full length. Shawn

I have a 62" T/D bow, D75 fast strings and I belive its 1/8 off center

Difference between brass and aluminum, i assume you are talking about inserts. Brass weighs a lot more, a aluminum insert will weigh about 15 to 30 grains, aprox, depending on shaft size and a brass can come in 50,75 and 100 grains.

Weight on the tip. The more weight on the tip the more force needed to push the arrow, the more force used to push the arrow the more it will flex, the more it flexes the weaker it is in dynamic spine

The difference in 4" and 5" is 4" has 12" of surface area and 5" has 15", the more surface area the more ability to stabulize the arrow in flight.

One thing i failed to ask is how are the 400's you have flying for you and how much weight do you have on the tip and do they have aluminum inserts?

On a side note: If you get some 340's from kustom king to try and they dont work, as long as they are full lenght and the inserts are not epoxied in, use hot melt, i will buy them from you for what you paid for them.
