for the money, you cant beat a diy elk hunt!

I would choose a hog hunt down south on a limited budget. Seems there are a ton of them to shoot at and most guide services allow multiple harvests for a few hundred dollars.
Just one more step please!

For me, it's the next one I'm going on.  If it wasn't affordable I wouldn't be going.  If I'm broke, I'll go hunt chipmunks just for kicks.  If money was no object, I'll take moose in Alaska or a family trip to Africa, but for now I will just do deer, squirrels and rabbits in Michigan and hogs down in Texas and South Carolina for this hunting season.

For us east of the Mississippi, it is pretty hard to beat a DIY hunt in the Rockies for mule deer or elk.  I have done several and enjoyed every one.

Overlooked by many, it is also pretty easy, and relatively inexpensive, to have a wilderness adventure in Michigan's UP, northern Minnesota and just across the border in Canada.  One of the best trips I have ever done was canoeing in the back country and along the northern shore of Lake Superior in Canada with my bow, a quiver full of judo points and a fishing pole in September. For the price of gas, and small game and fishing licenses it is probably the cheapest way for a mid westerner to experience a true DIY wilderness hunt.

Get a map, pick a spot out and go explore.

Well if your talking outfitted.  Africa is a great experience for the whole family and is priced about the same as a moose hunt in Alaska.

Mike got that right. There is no better bargain than Africa if you want to be able to see and shoot multiple game animals and be in a part of the world that is different, exciting, and (if picked properly) very wild. As a warning, some places in Africa start to seem like a Texas game farm that requires a very long plane ride to get there. Do your homework if Africa is in your plans.

That's like asking who has the prettiest wife!

It really is in the eye of the beholder. Value is a pretty relative term as well. If you have lots of money, the definition changes.

That being said, it is hard to beat whitetails around home!

Sitka blacktails or black bear in AK are pretty affordable as well.

I guess for me it's the DIY antelope hunt in Wy next week, otherwise Africa is fabulous for the money.

Steve:  I assumed when you said best hunt for the money, you meant an outfitted hunt.  A DIY hunt will almost always be less expensive.
