I remember seeing a picture of a wood arrow with burn marks in it for a cool camo look. I think Guru had some, anyway I have some shafts and would like to do them the same way. Any tips and guidence would be appreciated, and pics as well. Thanks in advance. Tim

I recently asked DesertDude the same question, he had some arrows on the "Woodie Love" thread that were burnt and had the pattern you were talking about. Here they are ( about 2/3 the way down the page)

He told me he had used a propane torch to mark em up. I used a butane torch and it worked great, just flip it on and go to work with whatever pattern you want, and when you steel wool them before you seal them it WILL take some of the darker burn off so just remember to hit it a little more than you think. Good Luck, mine turned out great btw!

I've also used my alcohol burner. Worked good. Have fun!

So does doing this to wood arrows weaken the shaft at all? Thanks, Mike.

Believe it or not the "HARDWAY" is often the EASIER way(in hindsight)!
