How long to wait on a custom before calling to check on it?

Hello Gang,
I was just wanting to ask what would you fellas consider polite when it comes to checking the status of a custom bow?  If you were giving a time frame of 4-5 months, at what point would you contact the bowyer to see if its done yet. I know that things can be delayed and time gets away from us sometimes but at the same time I am anxious to get my bow. I don't want to come off as pushy or impatient. Does anyone have any advice conecerning this topic?  I'm sure alot of you have been down this road before.

Are you over the time promised?  Days, weeks, months?

I guess if I was over more than 3 weeks without any comment or communication from the builder I would get in touch with them and ask in a polite way how they were doing on the bow.

Just my thoughts......

Usually they will call and inform you that you are next up and due within XX amount of time. Mine have come in earlier than originally promised up front. I communicate all along the way making sure everything is still as explained, changes, additions, etc.
Never wait too long!

They're never on time.  Wait 5 months and a week.  Then tell your glad he didn't start on yours yet, because you switched from righty to lefty.  Pause!!!!!!!!!  See what he has to say and then start laughing.  I'll get you a lot further than bitching.

Well, I can t ell you what Marty Thompson does. He is the bowyer/owner of Apex Predator bows. You call and he tells you when he will be talking to you about your wood choices. Then he will tell you when he is starting the bow. Very good communication and very good at meeting his promises.

Any bowyer should be wiling and able to tell you within a couple weeks one way or another where you are in his pipeline.

Not sure of the rest of em ,,, But Chad Holm & Dan Toelke keep ya posted on a regular basis .... Through the build .... I like that ... Not to mention the Bows were done in a few weeks, and BOTH FINE BOWS @ THAT !!! Very Fine ...

I received an e-mail from Rose Oak yesterday that limbs I ordered were ahead of schedule! So far, all I've worked with (except one in Florida) are great at letting me know when they are about to build. They call or e-mail to confirm all the specs and give me an estimate for the finished bow and completing the purchase.

you are a customer its ok to call its a business thing. If someone tells me my bow will be done in say june I would call the last week in may an say how are ya making out on my bow.they will tell ya .I dont think most bowyers would mind that call.on the other hand I would not call every month.an it sounds like your not doing that.waiting stinks
