Visit with Larry Surtees

I just want to share that I got the chance to spend a few evenings with Larry while I was down in Pensacola for training. I had an awesome time with Larry, and I must thank him again for his generosity to take the time out of his schedule to make time for me.

Monday he took me to the local 3d course that is owned by the guys who own Ben Pearson now. Pretty awesome to meet them and see the new recurve that they are working on. I met a bunch of great guys there, both compound and traditional and everyone made me feel very welcome. I was pleased with my shooting, especially in front of people that I had never shot with before or met. After the shoot we finished up with a very nice meal, a few cold ones, and great conversation.

Wednesday night Larry took a few of us out on his boat to do some bowfishing and I had a great time. I didn't dress exactly right for the occasion, since Larry and Eric had to bail out many times to get us moving again. Next time I'll know to be prepared a bit better! Larry and Eric both guided us into some great fishing, much better fishing than my shooting would indicate, but I am definitely happy with what I managed to get, but not nearly as happy with the time spent with gang that night and how we finished it off with a special stop at the end. I had been many years since I had came to attention and saluted, but the one that I gave to salute to was most deserving.

I think I ended up with 3 stingrays, 2 Mullet, 1 Flounder, and I missed 2 Sheephead and a gob of crab!

I just want to say thanks again to Larry for the great time and if you guys ever get a chance to go down to Pensacola make it a point to stop and see Larry and all the Pensacola tradgang!

It was great seeing you again!  Glad you had a good time, and I enjoyed the night out on the water.  I'll give my best to the Gang down here for you tomorrow night when I see them again.

Eric and Renee both said to give you their best.  The last stop was not a planned stop.  I appreciated you taking the time to join me!

Larry is one outstanding guy first class all the way no BS.I spent a week with Lar in Que'bec this spring and he is a hard working man tough old bird right there.We had some great laughs together not to mention killed some bears too..if I may in your thread ? little pic of one of the best in our game you ai'nt gonna find one any better then Larry.......Larry rocks bd
