looks like a great target and an even better shot!!! Good job

Doc Nock

When I was a kid, people would buy all color phases of them and it was to be big biz to raise them like mink... they were to be a sure thing to make big money!

They didn't go over in the clothin industry for many reasons I can't remember...I was pretty young then... so YEAH..it was a long time ago.

Down below my Uncles, a guy had a block building with pens in them full of blonde, black, white, grey..nutria.

Many people when the market went bust, just turned them "loose". Ergo, where the winters weren't too tough, they dug in and reproduced like good rodents do... Black Water Swamp federal refuge (E.Shore of MD) had horrid problems and paid guys to trap, kill, poison... and they pretty much got them under control... but they live much like big muskrats tunneling and such.

Now, Jag...ya don't eat rodents? What about bunnies and tree rats...they're rodents!    :jumper:

Hey Steve, how are you?  Good to hear from you.  Initially we'll have the heads in 100, 125 and 150.  Hoping to get some in weights above 150, but that won't be until some time early next year.

Fried nutria rat ain't bad.  I've had it a couple of times.

In New Orleans they tried to pass it off as a delicacy but it doesn't appear to have caught on as I don't see it advertised anymore. There are so many of them there was a $4 bounty on each tail turned in.  They tried to create a food market to help control the numbers.

DocNock, I do eat bushy tailed woods rat!  My bride can sure cook up frying pan of woods rat and gravy!  But unless you drop 'em in the water, they don't look too much like a BIG RAT!
