Don't know about Astor.  I'm 180 miles south of you and have deer, turkey, hog, bear, bobcat, coyote, panther, snakes and alligators on the property I hunt. LOTS of mosquitoes too.

MY brother loves coming down from the Poconos to hunt and warm up.   Not sure what your personal feelings are but down here there is a saying.. "Corn it and they will come."

Deer season this year opens July 30 2011.  This will mean hunting in 90-105 degrees. think tee shirt, shorts, bug suit and thermocell and lots of water.

Good luck

I hunted a couple of the WMA's back in the early 90's and they were pretty good but I hear they are crowded now. I was told the quoto hunts are the way to go and of course to try to get on a private lease.
