Well lets see, N.J., and you can stalk right from someones backyard, and the blacks are very big from eating so well. It's quite common to see 350-450 lb. bears with the larger ones taking a little more patience.

The only other problem being YOU CAN'T HUNT WITH A BOW ! How stupid is that, one must use a firearm only, and that being a shotgun only with sabots.

Excuse me for venting a little.

If you don't mind hunting over bait, Hunter's Point is offering a 2 for 1 special for the last two weeks of the season in Maine. I have another post about it.

Cohutta wilderness, North Georgia. No baiting and  no hounds, and lots of bears. Non resident liscense is fairly reasonable. Use the search function on this site and type in "Cohutta. its only about a 3-4 hour drive from Chapel Hill TN

Northern and central California.

Second black bear state in population only to AK as far as I remember.  I see them about 9 months out of the year regularly within 20 yards.  Guess they have the hunting season figured real well.

Fly out southwest and pick a wilderness trail head and have a ball.  Some wilderness areas have more recent burns (and more open country) than others but there are tons.  Anywhere that was burned 3-10 years ago is liable to have tons of berries and come August they are loaded.
Give me a bow a topo and two weeks, and I guarantee I kill two weeks!

I spot and stalk bears here in SW Montana.  I love it but I dont see a ton of bears here.  I like it that way though.  They are a treasure when you spot one here.  Further West in Montana they see many more bears. Tons of public land.  You can buy tag over the counter too.
Not cheap thhough.

I'm not trying to be confrontational but I believe this is not correct.
