? about private message notification

I used to get a msg of a pm in the banner just above topics.  But for the past few days I have not. Has this been removed from the site, or haves I done somthing to cause this? Thanks in advance for any help. TERM

It will be there whenever you have a new message. If a person sends an email only PM, you will not see the notification.
