I was thinking about dying some shafts with rit and alcohol, but wanted to know if anyone has had problems with gasket laquer adhering to the dyed shafts. I bought some finished shafts last year from an experienced **** retailer, but whatever dye she used for the crown was not compatible with g.l. It started to peel halfway through the season. Any thoughts and experiences are appreciated. Thanks!

Ben,
RIT with alcohol works great.  Just steel wool the shafts lightly and the gasket lacquer will work fine.  I do mine that way and have no problems.

Have used Rit and denatured alcohol with gasket lacquer with no problems at all.

Ditto, I use that combination all the time.

Tie two birds together; though they have four wings, they can not fly.
