Just put in for my fall MN bear tag. Outfitter is in area 25 and Im a non resident. I saw on the MN DNR website they issure 900 tags for this hunt area. Does anybody know if this is resident and non combined? Anybody hunt this area or know much about it. I know its a big area. Any info helps. Bought this hunt at a auction and Im all in the blind about bear hunting in this area. Thanks for any info!!!

Here's some information from the Mn. DNR website:

http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/hunting/bear/index.html

If you are looking for an outfitter there is a link on that page.  If you are going to do it yourself, try and get a plat book from the county to see what is state land and what is private.  You will be in some beautiful country, good luck!

Ive bear hunted area 25 quite a few times. Ive hunted the ash river trail, rat root river near ray and the area around Little falls. If your looking for a good guide I would go with Frank House out of Ray Mn. He used to have a resort on Kabetogama Lake. If I were doing a self Hunt I would go south around Margie seems like theres bigger bears there. Lots of state forest to hunt
