duffel bags for airtravel

Hi from Spain

I have one booked trip to Australia for this summer and i need one bag for two bows and the typical hunting equipment. I am thinking in one duffel bag

Advices, recomendations? which ones are the Us bowhunters using for air travelling?

Fly with one all the time.. Made by Outdoor Products and its almost too big. Easy to fill it so full that it will be over the 50# weight limit. Take down bows wrapped in their cases and placed in the center. Never had any trouble with damage. This bag has been on three trips and still looks new...

Cabelas makes a big duffle, and the ever popular military green sea bag.

I used one from Cabelas also. Pretty rugged material, 900 denier I think. Worked great. It was the 32x15x15 I believe.

This gear bag has made the trip to Colorado twice with my hunting gear, TD bow, arrow tube and camping gear and is the max size allowed by the airlines. 32"x15"x15" Just keep it under 50#.

I like the rubberized bags with the roll down tops, and shoulder straps.  Easier to carry and keeps stuff dry too.

They are basic... there are repro/clones that are even bigger depending on how bigs the cases you are stuffing inside...

I live in the Czech Republic and have flown back to the states many times with duffles with no problem.  I have a large one from Gander Mountain and one made for hockey equipment with rollers.  Both work fine.

If you want to travel with one piece bows, look at a ski bag that holds 2 pairs of skis and has the rollers on the bottom.  There is enough room to pack several bows and a lot of your clothing in the bag as padding for the bows.  Works great for flights.

If its a one piece bow you can also use a fishing  rod case.

Will be for takedown bows, i can´t imagine travel from Europe to Australia with a one piece !!!!

I would rethink the one bag unless you are limited to one. If you can do 2 bags put one bow in each along with clothes in each (boots etc) so that if one gets lost you can still hunt.

Jorge,I am a frequent International traveller bowhunter and collector.I am been able to carry up to 20 bows at times.With the TDs you don't have any trouble and you can carry in any big uffel you can buy world wide,just store your bows between layers of clothing.The problem is not the capacity of a big bag but the wait you can carry.If you excede the 50#/ 23,5 KG is better to use a second piece of luggage that will cost you 50Euro up to 23,5 KG.Instead if you stick on one piece you'll have to pay something like 15 Euro for every exceding KG.
So 3 KG can cost you like a n extra bag.Check your Airline anyway because this can change from company to company.
