That's a beautiful bow. The classic lines of a Damon Howatt are unique. It's their signature. Congrats on a great find.

Very nice bow!  I have mostly old Bears but am considering trying a Damon Howatt.  They are very nice to look at and I hear they are great shooting bows.

Sorry to hear about your shoulder.  I have a shoulder with a 17 year old injury that requires constant supervision.  I am starting to think that it's better to shoot what you can comfortably and enjoy this sport much longer than try to push it.

back in the day i had more than a few damon howatts - 2 montereys, 1 matador, 2 hispeeds.  all great, classic 60's era recurves.  just works of art, all of 'em.

Very nice!  I think the standard is from the deepest part of the grip, but I have read that some bowyers specify otherwise.

Someone with more knowledge will be along soon.

I have had luck with a suggestion that I got form bowdoc-he suggested that I use tru-oil to touch up the old Bears that I have that might need something sealed, but don't need the full treatment.  It matches the finish well, and I'd be willing to bet that it would work on the old Damon-Howatt bows also.

That is a nice looking bow!

The usual way to measure brace height is from the deepest part (throat) of the grip to the string. Some bowyers (Jack Howard was one) have used a part of the riser closer to the string.

What a great looking bow!  That's about as pretty wood as one can find.  The DH's were very popular back in the 60's.  I can see why folks are collecting them!

Throat of grip and she's a real looker. Those bows do have a unique sculpting.I think that grip might fit me!!
