Since I can't hunt in CT on sundays Logan and I decided to take the dog for a walk and do some snowshoeing and a little stump shooting. I LOVE being in the woods with a fresh snow and no human tracks in sight. We had a blast and I only lost 1 arrow.....not bad for having all white fletchings!
There were squirrel tracks everywhere so I hope to get out this week and try to bag a few with my longbow. It just wasn't gonna happen with the 2 of us and the dog.

What a fantastic way to start out the new year.

Looks like a great time. Nice dog. Snowshoes? Doesn't look that deep there. We only got 2"

We got 8"-12" on Friday and there was still 4"-6" in most places from the storm before that. It dosen't look real deep but it's over the top of my boots and a real pain to walk in. Calling for another 12"-15" tonight!

I've heard it said that Christianity is a crutch.  To me, it's a walking stick to use on the path of life.

I too live in one of those unenlightened states.

Sounds like a blast! Too bad we don't get enough snow here consistently to try snowshoe stumping.

The quest to improve is so focused on a few design aspects & compensating for hunter ineptness as to actually have reduced a bow & arrow's effectiveness. Nothing better demonstrates this than mech. BHs & speed fixated designs

Yo......what happened to those great chartreuse fletchings that I saw you using?  Shouldn't lose too many of those in white snow.....unless you bury 'em in 12" or so!!!!

What a blast.  I have to get my shoes out and take a walk.  I just need to finish up a little woodshop out in the garage for my better half.  Uuuhhmm, woodshop/arrow making shop. Shhhh!

Looks like a great time. Better leave those snow shoes close. Sounds like more snow is headed your way.

You were shooting well to lose only one.
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

Thankfully I live NEXT to one of those states! I mainly just hunt CT in sept and Jan, to extend my season a bit. In the county I live in I am blessed to hunt mid october through the end of december in a bow only zone and with my work schedule I get out just about everyday!

we don't often have enough snow for snowshoeing but it looks like I'll be using them quite a bit this year.
