I'm setting up a old American 56" recurve for a 16 year old kid and was wondering what arrow would work best.  I was surprised that Easton chart called for 2216 and 2117 for that low weight bow but I only shoot long bows.  Thanks for any help.

I shoot a Bear A T/D 56" 44 lbs with 1916 at my 28in draw with very good results....
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside thoroughly used up, totally worn out, with bible in hand and loudly proclaim...WOW...What a Ride!!!

I would try 1816s or maybe 1916s.  2117s seem a little stiff, but that is what I shoot best out of my 44# Black widow.

depends on actual draw length of the individual
1816-1916 are about right for 27-29 draw length

I shoot around that weight. if he is pulling 28" 35/55 carbon work for me.

I shoot64" recurves that are 46#30" arrows cut 30.5"BOP 125gr point
Dale Dye 2016
Black Widow 2216
For the bow you describe I think the 2117 and 2216 shafts would be too stiff.
