i'm looking at getting the 'soulo' model for hunting tahr in NZ next may. any feed back on it or any other hilleberg gear would be great. how's the quality, materials, functionality, etc?

Other than the price, there's probably not a better shelter made.

Clint:  I bought one two years ago for hunting mountain goats and sheep in Alaska and haven't been in the least bit disappointed.  I have the Akto and it is near perfect for solo hunts.  When I go to NZ to hunt chamois and tahr, that tent will be with me!

Steve H is the Akto free standing as i have a exped vella 1 which is very sim to the Akto and it isnt free standing which in very uneven county like in NZ it is a real pain to put up ive just got a MSR hubba for its free standing ability ...

Clint the mac pac microlight is another great tent not free standing Thanks Shane

OS:  The Akto is not free standing.  I'll have to dig out some sheep hunting photos of it located on small spots.  The Hillebergs are just a couple orders in magnitude above other tents I have seen in quality.

I've been using my MSR Hubba for all my mountain hunts for two years now. For me it is the perfect combo of weight and space.
