ARROW SPINE HELP

My longbow isamo 64" #54 @28". I have some easton 1916 that are 27.5"long and ordered some 50-55lb. ceder shafts that are 28" both will be fletch with 5" gateway sheildcut feathers and 125 gr. tips. Am I on the right track.

My draw lenght is 28".

if your drawlength is 28 inches, you might have a bit of a problem with the 27.5 inch arrows.  The 28 inch will be pushing it if you have a broadhead on the end of it. Some people like to draw back to the edge of their finger.  i like to have an extra inch myself.

Are the 1916 spine ok for my specs.

i think they will be a little light with a 28 inch drawlength and 54lb @ your drawlength.  A higher spine like a 2016 or similar might work better.  Since you already have the 1916, if you can make them work with your drawlength, try them and see.  If your bow is cut past center or to center you can build your sideplate out if needed, but try them first without doing any of that.

My longbow is 51@29 and I use a 30" 2016 with 125 points.  You will be on the upper end of the 1916 but they may work if they are long enough for your drawlength.  Give them a try, you can't hurt anything.  I would try the 2016 at 29" if you find the 1916's don't work.

Measure your draw length. If it's truly 28", then I don't see how you can shoot a 27 1/2" arrow. Most guys draw shorter than they think they do, and this is especially true with a longbow.
