I have always shot longbows 64" and under. I am thinking about trying the longer to me 66". I seem to shoot really well with 62" but no experience with the longer bows. Help please! Thanks.

Kerry I have been shooting 64" for years, up at the Riverside shoot where I met you I was shooting a 64" Morrison, I have a 68" custom longbow I used to shoot alot for 3-D. If you look at two more inches on a 64" to a 66" it's not very much, I just seam to shoot 64" as good as about anything.  :wavey:

64" is the shortest longbow I've used. In handling there's very little practical difference in a 68" bow, and if their design is similar you might find that the longer bow is smoother and more stable.

I seem to shoot the longer stuff better, I just got a 64" Zipper and it is a dream to shoot.I had a 66" Brackenberry that I traded, only because I went down in poundage. Long is good.

All of my bows are either 64 or 66" in length, and I use them all in my climbing treestand.  Saying that, I've never used a hunting blind.

I like the finger comfort of the longer bows.

I've had a few 60", a couple 62" and a 66".  I shoot the 66" the best.  It might just be that bow is a good one?  I want to try one like it in a 64" for comparison.

I have two Wesley Specials. One 66" and one 68" I like them both equally and don't really think I can tell a difference. However I don't want to go any shorter.

I shoot longbows from tiny ILF longbows to 69" longbows and I really love them all. Do I find a difference, the longer bows "seem" to be smoother, but as far as shooting, no difference.

IMO, if they are of the same quality, it should shoot the same, I shoot a 68 and 62 and don,t realy see the diff, the 68 seem a little smoother  but not by much!!To me it just seems that longbows, should be long...

I'm not a big man, but my hands are large. I can palm a basketball, and my hand span in 10". Shorter bows cause finger pinch for me. If your hands are smaller than mine, you can shoot shorter bows more comfortably.

If it ain't broke...? 66" is short because I've shot 68" & longer for 33 years. From trees, climbers, ground blinds, etc, no problems. Love smooth longer heavier Hill/style LB's w/straight larger handles. Lethal combos.

A 66" bow is one of my favorite lengths, alot depends on bow design. For my Hill's 66" is my favorite length, for highly R/D I like 62" to 66" bows.

I draw 27 1/2 " and 66" is as short as i go ...

I have shot from a 64" up to a 70". I am a natural 28" draw length. Once I got my custom 70" I was hooked. The probably psychological, but the longer bow seems to be more stable for me, and more comfortable while shooting. For me long is better. I hunt on the ground as low to the ground as I can get, so I often shoot with the bow almost horizontal.

Longer bows seem more stable for me, too. I feel my accuracy is much better with a longer bow, plus no stacking issues. Super smooth and quiet draws.

My Hill bows are 62", 66" and 68". I feel my 62" starting to stack as I reach a full draw (minimal - but at 66# at 28" I can start to feel it) but not so with the longer bows. They are 80# and 85#. I feel very accurate at 20 yards and pretty good at 30.

My shortest bow is Super Mag 48" 85# at 28". It is pretty accurate at a closer range - 15 yards.

My second shortest is a 58" Jack Kempf Kwyk Styk. But, it is a Jack Kempf bow so that mitigates everything. It is accurate at any distance.

In the end, I am a long, longbow kinda guy.  I just love them.

These are my thoughts on this. I love longer bows because of the ease of shooting. However after too many missed opportunitys I decided to hunt with a bow that keeps my long draw in check and still stay huntable. Ever try drawing a 68-72" bow out of a multiple trunk maple? Doesnt work so good ususally, except for right in front of you. For me its about hunting and whats best for that. That being said a 62" bow works great for me. I can get many more shot opportunitys between trees, or at 8 yards without being a contortionist (sp?). I love longer bows, but my hunting style just doesnt allow for it. I hunt 98% of the time from a tree stand, and I prefer multiple trunks if possible. The deer I posted a few days ago would still be alive had I continued with my longer bows. He was close and behind my tree. The shot would have been impossible with my 68" bow. Sorry for the long winded blah-blah!

I have found that I need at least a 64" bow to shoot comfortably.  66" or 64" for me.  66" is just 1" on each end.

Had a 68in Dwyer orginal.  Super smooth, queit, nice all around bow.  Too Long for me!  Just personal preference.  Been looking at 64in longbows though, maybe another Dwyer in 64 is just what I'm looking for.
