My most prized trad gear, are a box of original Fred Bear arrows, that I do not use.

A gem of an artifact from a yard sale along with a quiver full of arrows from the 50s for $5.00. There is red dye on the arrow and the feathers are nearly falling apart. Someday I am gonna let someone see this to tell me exactly what kind of arrow this is. All I can come up with is late 1800s Plains. Anyone else have any ideas?

Trad gear??? Most prized? hmmmm, that's a hard one. I'd have to say that the kids bow that Oregon Okie made and passed onto to me after his son grew out of it. It has brought a lot of joy to my grandson. Everytime I see him he says "bows and arrows...bows and arrows???"

Beyond that I have a recurve I built, a few Blacktails and a Griffin that would be hard to replace.

it would have to be my first bow.mid seventies bear black panther hunter.it was my uncles first bow.he sold it to me when i was 8 years old for 8 dollars.i am 38 now.i still have it,but i only use it to go fishing for carp.i think this is going to be a great thread.it will bring back alot of memories.thanks,steve

the Puma Hunters pal that my Mum [ dec. ] and Dad gave me when i waws really young for our trips away together ... then my Randall knife ..which i saved up  for years as a youngster ..
stil have and use both all the time .. many memories of both good and hard times attached to both .

My Oribe concert classical guitar, I could sell it and buy 20 Robertson longbows with the money, (keeping with the trad format here, but it is not for sale).  Really, for bowhunting it is my Schulz Legend 64@26" 66" longbow, no one ever believes what it can do until they see it for themselves.

A wife that hunts.  She may not be a possession but she is my partner in life and the woods.  Nothing better than that except a wife and kids that hunt.

I would have to say my most prized trad possession is the one that has a bitter sweet aspect to it. It is my 55# Martin Mountaineer long bow.

It is sweet because my wife bought it for me for our first Christmas back in '91. It is a pleasure to carry in the woods and looks great.

It is bitter because it is really 10# too heavy for me. The archery shop that I ordered it from was staffed by a couple of guys who were more interested in telling lies to each than helping out a newbie. I needed some good advice like - 45# is more than plenty to kill an elk with, so don't get anything heavier, but the guy just hastily took the order and the cash and went back to jaw jacking in the back room. Basically, I needed TRADGANG!! I have struggled with it over the years an even went back to the compound for a while because I couldn't quite master it.

But as I think of it, buying a heavy bow is a little like marrying a good woman. You gotta work hard to become the man she needs you to be, not the one you started out as. You gotta get close... You gotta get closer... You gotta get even closer. Then you gotta pray that the Lord will give you the strength you lack when you really need it. Yeah, it is a lot like my marriage... They both have their difficulties, I've loved every minute of each and I'll never give up on either.
