I just bought 25 arrows off e-bay , all 2117's they have "quik spin" vanes on them. I never heard of this so I looked it up. Are they any good or is the advertising hype? Hope I didn't waste my $$.

They are plastic and most are 2" they straighten arrows from wheeled bows quick on release. They would be to stiff for trad gear. The quick spin gimmick is that the vanes have small grooves running parallel to the shaft.I would take them off and use feathers for trad gear.To re-fletch with feathers shouldn't cost a lot of $. The shafts are still good.

The only ones I have any experience with are the little 2 inch ones.  They fly pretty well on lite arrows shot from a faster compound.  I don't think those little vanes will do much for stabilizing a broadhead shot out of a recurve.  My thought was that they flew a little slower than a 'normal' vane.

They stabilize the arrows coming out of my compound really well.  However, I shoot feathers a lot better from my recurve.

I think you need an arrow speed higher than trad gear can accomplish in order for them to be effective.

I havent tried them with  trad gear because I shoot of the shelf. If you are using an elevated flipper rest I would at least give them a spin see how they do and let everyone know. I doubted the little 2 inch blaser vanes for my wheel bow but now I swear by them .

Gehrke145

They shoot fine off my ILF rigs with a NAP 750 rests.  So do blazers and anything else that sticks to a arrow shaft.  Off the shelf not so much.

FerretWYO

I know many that shoot them with a compound. One guy that Shoots them as suggested above off of an NAP rest on an Hoyt ILF and does well. Not sure how they would work other than that.

The arrows have 4" vanes, I tried them after supper off my Darton , they shot about 8" at 20 steps. I'll get into it more in a few days. A wierd thing though - the target points unscrewed a bit after a few shots. Mind you though I only had them finger tight.

I shot the 4" through my compound when they first came out several years ago - didn't notice any difference between them and normal vanes except the quick spins where much louder.

Never tried them off the shelf of my recurve - just don't think they would work like feathers.

I used to shoot them out of a compound.  I personally liked them.  I got better flight with the broadheads using them.  They had a little tab that stuck off the end (nock end of the vane) to help spin the arrow, like the flaps on an airplane.  I never noticed them being any louder than normal vanes.  I now only shoot feathers out of my recurves but if I was shooting off a rest and could shoot vanes, I'd use them.
