PEARL DRUMS

Thats me crying my eyes out. I got to my one and only private land spot (29 acres) to find a field of turned dirt! The farmer fall plowed for the first time in 10-12 years, ZERO deer all weekend and something tells me that is going to be the norm for this season......... Hello public land, here I come!   "[dntthnk]"

Rank Bull

That stinks.

Any chance he's planting rye? That might bring them in.

Or maybe you should plant a gigantic food plot!

Im hoping winter wheat goes in, its bean stubble underneath. Its my only hope!

last year I had a piece that was surrounded by corn fields(the prison farms it for cow feed) and set up early. The day before bow season they cut it all down ran farm equipment all day   :scared:   .I had a nice ten point that was feeding on the corn every night till that day. What do you do. Turkeys had a field day,but they were by permit only.    :(
Some people live an entire lifetime and wonder if they have ever made a
difference in the world, but the Marines don't have that problem.

Beans, well there is a chance it will be wheat. Is there a chance you can hunt the now altered bedding area to food route?

PEARL DRUMS

I have a very slim piece of cover to hunt, its bordered by river to the south and a plowed field to the north. The deer have no reason to hang out in my area now. They will pack up and head east or west off my area. Oh well! I will just have to be even more opportunistic than I already am, a.k.a. "lowering the bar". Im not too proud to do so, I live for bow hunting and wont let another year slip by while I wait for the "right" animal. They are all "right" in my eyes.

BINGO! The farmer drilled wheat in a few days ago. Now I need to sit back and let this weeks rain and higher than normal temps make that stuff pop out of hiding. It should make my november pretty darn good. For the record I have hunted 8 times and seen one button buck this season, somethings gotta give pretty soon.

"[dntthnk]"  Thats never much fun. You may end up having your best season ever...never know! Keep at it.
