Tracy and I are getting pretty excited with less then a month left until bear season starts. We are headed back up to hunt bear and deer again this Sept.Any MN. bear and deer hunters care to make a prediction on the early season? What do you think? How is the mast this year?We will be hunting near Leonard.

Lot's of natural food in the woods so that could impact bears and their interest in bait. In the area I hunt deer which is at the very southern edge of bear country pre-season deer counts look to be higher than last year but not as high as two years ago. Seeing lots of bachelor groups of bucks, 6-7 in a group. Weather has been very hot and humid but that changed overnight. Today the highs will be in the 70's.

Just went up and baited and the early spring really has the chokecherries and blue/blackberries decimated! Im in area 26 and the berries are gone, got all the baits set up on friday, and even saw a bear at high noon, that doesnt happen! The bears are on the move looking for food, the early spring was a blessing in disquise, and the bear hunt should be a good one!!!

Well, Has anyone had any luck?
I talked to Brian Johnson an sat.He said,he thinks it is going to be a tough bear hunt this year.Since they have a bumper crop of mast.
We will be heading north next monday (13th).Either way it goes we will have a great time.

The few reports I have heard have been very promising.  Bears seem to be coming in during the daylight hours.  I have only spoken with a few people though.  Every area is different.  Chad

OH YEA!Tanner is ready to go.We have had about a dozen practice tracks, and I believe he is more than ready for the real thing.Everyone in camp has already agreed to let him do the tracking, even on a perfict hit.I am just as excited to get him on a real track as I am to go hunting.

I have a thick woods ,(40 Acres )We have about six of them run and run our property in and out it is ,But of course we have lots of berries ,Seems to be plenty of natural food .But I've never bear hunt ,It's in a no quota ,County .So I can buy one over the counter .But I didn't want a mess with it,Less than two weeks to deer season .
