I had a friend tell me that if I put left helical fletching on my aluminum arrows with screw in inserts, that the would unscrew every time I shot them into a target, or worse yet a broadhead unscrewing when it hits an animal. Anyone have any of these problems, maybe suggestions? Thanks

Put string wax on the threads and make sure they are good and tight and they won't come loose.  It does happen with field points if you don't use wax or something because you make repetitive shots but I have never had a broadhead come loose even without putting something on the threads and I'm right handed and shoot left wing fletching.

Total BS!!!! They do tend to work loose with either fletch when shot alot but drop of loctite or fletching cement will stop that but they never "unscrew".
Bowhunting is "KILL and EAT" not "Catch and Release".....Semper Fi!

Barebones

Thanks for the tips, I'll try that.

I agree with that.I thought when I switched to right wing,it might make a difference in that aspect but it doesn't.Blue loctite is a good idea either way.

I actually did think my friends statement was BS but I wasn't sure since I haven't used left helical yet, and I got a good deal on some so I was about to fletch some up. But I can't give him too much grief since he still has " training wheels" on his bows. HA HA. Thanks for the info.

a itty bitty lock washer will fix this problem too

I shoot both LW and RW and just tighten my points up and they don't come loose.More then finger tight.Like said put alittle wax on the threads, works good.

You can also grab the shaft by hand and the point with channellocks and give a little extra twist.
