Well I found a glove that fits ok.  very very close to perfect.  Though it could use a mod, I'd like to add some overlays cordovan perferably.  Should I purchase a sewing awl from tandy for this?

I've also gave this some thought..ordering a knowingly large glove (being the correct size seems to only fit a couple fingers of the 3), and trying to sew them a little tighter.   Anyone try it?  Or would adding leather to the inside be a better route?  And if so would you glue it in or sew it in?

I dont think this glove is going to hold up for any length of timein it's current state (new) before it gets grooved to bad to use without overlays.

I prefer a hill style glove, they seem to fit  nice but I can never get one to fit all 3 fingers. The large I have is to small on two fingers and no amount of wetting and stretching seems to have changed this.   It's useable however if you have the string in the groove on your finger, the string contacts the last 1/8" of the glove and wants to rip it off, just not enough finger in the glove.  I've had this problem with many gloves over the years.

Anyone else mod any gloves to get that perfect fit?

and no a superglove doesnt fit either lol.  I just picked one up from Eds place last weekend, my buddy is gonna be happy if he ever answers the phone, should fit him nicely.

Sorry can't hlp you there but... E.W. Batemen, explain you want your middle finger to be ex-large, ring finger to be large, and your pointer finger to be medium, or how ever you you require, no returns though so make sure you get it right.

at almost 50 bucks a glove man alive...I dont think I could deal with customer service like that!!!

Dan,
I know your issues well.  The best I have been able to do to get the fit I want is go larger size cordovan (Alaska Bowhunting Supply), cut the glove finger tips off, and then take a single stitch at the tip if the fingers on each side of the fingers to lock in the thread.  When taking that stitch I will add a stitch or two on the fingers that are loose.  It is a pain to do but I end up with an excellent fit and the good news is that I have put 4,000 arrows out with that glove and the cordovan is better than new, the wrist strap area needs rebuilt from sweat damage (AZ) but the tips are excellent and the release just perfect.

I may have to try that.  The glove I just picked up from Ed is huge, yet it fits.  Dunno guess I just have short fat fingers LOL

It has been mentioned here before, using baseball bat pine tar rubbed inside the the glove tips keeps the glove from pulling off.  I use this and it works good for me.  I rub it on the pads of my fingers and work it into the glove.

I would just go to a tab, I think.  Man, that's a lot of frustration with gloves.
The years accumulate on old friendships like tree rings, during which time a kind of unspoken care and loyalty accrue between men.

I was using a tab for the last 10-12 years or so and for some reason I'm having joint issues atleast for now.   I kinda got out of it for a little bit, well not out but not shooting daily like I used too.  And with the tab it was tearing up my knuckles...dont ask I really dont know other then getting old is starting to really stink  ;) .   I found that with a glove (I have more then a few that didnt quite fit still laying around here), it gave enough support to my fingers the joints themselves didnt hurt anymore or very very little with a normal bit of shooting.   I'm not talking the pads, it's the joints that were killer.

I really did like shooting a glove when I first started.  I shot daily and used the super thin dark brown glove.  It didnt have the protection I needed when I moved up in weight over the years.   The gods honest truth is I like the hill style gloves quite a bit.  I dont have to much of an issue with them popping off, one finger fits the other two are too small.  Or two fingers kinda fit and one finger is HUGE.

To a point I guess I'll just have to make my own or add inserts or an overlay to the neet glove I have now.
