Hey fellas..A few weeks ago I posted a few questions on the GrizzlyStick arrow. Got a bunch of solid responses. Got a little nervous when I read a few,as I already ordered up a dz. wrapped and fletched. Well,I messed up...I ordered them 1" long and EVERY hit was way left. I removed the insert and had them cut. Reinserted the inserts, screwed on my 145gr. field points and went to range today. WHOO-HOO!!!...Launched out of my Bear 55# Super Kodiak, they fly STRAIGHT!! Wow! If I do my part, they DRILL the mark. I am by no way an "expert" shot, but at 20yds...well,I wouldnt want to be a whitetail!! I am SOOo happy and sorta relieved..I am amped now for season opener here in VA....ol' mossy horns oughta look out. Thanks for ALL of your advice and PM's fellas, good luck!  Take care,Lee

Congrats...there's nothing better than having success tuning your equipment and feeling confident. Grizz styks are great arrows no doubt. Good luck!

That's great Kodiak, also one really neat thing about Grizzly sticks is it's the only carbon you can tune from the nock end if desired.you have about 2" from nock end to cut before it starts to taper thicker. For example Alaskan are 330deflection but if I cut 1.5" off nock end, it will stiffen it to about 270 and perfect for me. However Alaskan Bowhunting Supply does not recommend this but it's my Mississippi Jimmy rigging coming out in me. plus around 2-1.5" is perfect for a .204 forelock . Good hunting and welcome to the Grizz stick team.

Hey Joebuck! Could you explain "deflection"? Also, what is 'forelock"? I have heard these terms before, but am not sure what they mean. Does "deflection" refer to weight of the arrow? Thanks! Take care,Lee

Hey Lee, deflection is spine or the amount the shaft bends or deflects. Forelock< not a clue  :dunno:

Congrats on getting your shafts and bow tuned.  Hunting season is almost here.

Almost any carbon arrow can be tuned from the nock end.  You just have to fletch them a bit further forward to have room to make the cuts.  I do this will all new carbon shafts.  I fletch three a bit forward and bare shaft to fletched field point tune.  Works great.  Once they are tuned I refletch those three shafts and then do the rest.  You can cut off more shaft on standard carbons than on Grizzly sticks.

Grizzly sticks will actually get stiffer the more you cut of the nock end due to taper unlike conventional carbon shafts that are parallel. But u have to be careful because your nock size will increase after 2" from my experience.  I tune all my arrows precisely to .270 deflection like this.  Pretty neat feature of a tapered shaft
