I am so glad to hear that someone was helped by the leather release aid.

These kind of reports helps to keep me search for ways I can come up with things. Some work and some don't but it's fun thinking about it and then trying to make something that fills a need.

I had a friend send me a very simple leather thumb release. I'm not good enough with heavy leather to build one myself but I'll take some pictures of it and how it works.

I didn't get along with it because it kept smacking me in the lip and its so small that I have trouble keeping up with it.

Anyway, La. Bowhunter congratulations on getting to shoot again.

God bless,Mudd

Clever! I dabbled with a design very similar to that for my horsebow.  I didn't want to use a thumbring, which you require me to shoot off the other side of the handle.  However, I did want something that would diminish finger pinch.  I think I'll give yours a try...looks like a winner.  Great work on the stitching, by the way.

That is pretty slick!  Do you or anybody have pictures anchored with it? Curious to see the different techniques used.

Mudd, THANK YOU. I have started to get arthritis in my fingers esp. My string fingers. I am blessed with good health for 67 yrs old so I am not complaining.  But want to shoot as long as possible and your idea may extend my shooting. Have you considered getting a patent and getting someone to make them? You could make a few shackles and help those of us who have to call the wife when a light bulb needs changing.

That looks good Mudd! The one thing I would definitely add is that I would sew the piece where it folds back onto itself. I could not trust glue alone for that at full draw!

That looks interesting.  Does the wrist strap do anything other than keep the release in place? And do I understand that you are drawing with your thumb, and the additional pressure of your finger against the strap and thumb?
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.
