Yesterday I picked up a new-to-me Thunder Stick III 62" 50@28 "for my wife". Initially, it was for my wife but now I don't know.  :D

Anyway, I want to order a bow from Jim to my specs but am torn between these two bows.

I prefer a 62" bow around 60@30 (my true draw length) if this matters at all.

A funny sidenote:

While shooting this bow at the test range at Cloverdale I borrowed a buddy's GoldTip 35/55 to fire downrange. I knew this was a little underspined and lighter than I like but the result still was impressive.

I really cranked 'er back and sent one downrange. Immediately following the shot everyone in line stopped and looked over. One wide-eyed guy said "SOB! What pound bow are you shooting over there?!" I just smiled and said 50lbs. Ha! I did end up telling them I was shooting a lighter arrow.

At your draw length I bet Jim recommends the TSIII.

I seriously doubt you could go wrong with either.(Not that that helps)..lol

I sent Jim an email earlier asking him to describe the difference and make a suggestion. I did not want to call him on a Sunday. If his email response doesn't tell me what I'm wanting to know I plan on calling him up.

Thanks for the input guys.

His MOAB is very impressive ... Good Luck ...

I shoot a 60" moab and I draw an honest 29.5 inches---No issues at all--JR and I are buddies and we talked about the 60" working for me or not and he said it would be fine--I shot both the 60" and the 62" MOAB and I preferred the 60"--I have no doubt that a 62" MOAB would work for your draw length---

I own and have owned many very good shooting bows--My MOAB is one of, if not the finest shooting  bow I have owned--
If your bow has a trigger, it's not a bow. If your bow has a trigger and a stock, it's an abomination.

P.J.,

In your opinion, is the MOAB the better of the two bows? If you think so, would you mind to elaborate?

Thanks,

Dusty

I draw 31" and the 64" Thunderstick III shot great for me this weekend. I've never tried one before and I was very impressed.

I have 2 MOABs and a III. Hard to compare because the III is 41#( bought it for my wife, but she prefers to hunt with a 'curve) and my MOABs are 57 and 52. All great shooting bows.
either way you go, you'll like 'em.

Thanks for the info thus far.

I'm waiting for a response from Jim but I'm antsy to hear someone else's thoughts on the difference between these two bows. So, if anyone has info or an opinion please chime in.

Thanks...Dusty

MOAB for me in a 62" for that draw, but I can draw and shoot my 60" to 30".  My standard draw is 29 1/4" and a 60" is fine.  I just like the extra smooth you get with the 62".  I had a 66" and 62" TS III.  The 66 or maybe a 64 would be good, but I thought the 62" was a little short and didn't shoot as well as the MOAB or longer TS III for me.  Put it this way, I have the MOAB and don't see ever parting with it, and I don't have the TS III's anymore.

Well, Jim dropped me a line and basically said the difference is in preload/performance with the edge going to the MOAB.

From the thoughts on here, the MOAB it is.

So many bows, so little time...and money.

I have 2 Thunderstick IIIs, and I love them. Smooth, quiet and they hit where I am looking.

I draw 31" and Jim recommended the III for me. I've been trying to find a used one in 64" or 66" that's 45@28 for a while now. They must be great bows because I don't see many for sale.

Dusty,

I don't think you could go wrong with either bow, but talking with Jim is good advice. My one and only longbow right now is a MOAB      :bigsmyl:  .
