The new job starts June 1.  Looking for information on a local trad club in TN or northern GA, shops, places to hang out.  How is the hunting, public land accessibility, all that good stuff.

Terry Green

You are not too far from the Cohutta Wilderness and WMA in GA....95,000 acres of deer, hogs, and bears.  Also....Cohutta ends on the TN boarder and Big Frog Wilderness starts there.  Big Frog is deep woods also with the same 3 game I mentioned earlier.  Look on the TN map west of Cleveland.

95,000 acres! That enough for you ,Bert?

LUCKY! Whitewater, hunting and nice weather!

I'm about an hour-and-a-bit north of Chattanooga. Check out the Tennessee Tradional Archery Society forum, right down at the bottom of the main Trad Gang page.

There's lots & lots of really good public land within an hour of you in all directions, some of the best bowfishing in the country too! There's Ye Olde Fartes & Sore Losers club with members all around you & they hold a really good 3D shoot on the 3rd Sunday of the month (Outside deer season  ;)  )
You're also surrounded by Trad Gang members & some of the nicest folks on the planet. The only downside is the expense of wanting to buy a license for Tennessee, Georgia & Alabama!

Bert-
Rob has some great advice in his post above.

Congrats on the move, Chattanooga is a nice town as far as towns go and one of my favorites. If you're here by May 22 and aren't too busy, Monty Browning is giving the TTAS group a talk, there is some selfbow building with the Twin Oakes crew, and a morning sqwirl hunt. That will happen at Fall Creek Falls State Park, about 1.5 hours out of Chattanooga and a great place for the family to enjoy.

We're also having a TTAS hunt in November if you're interested.

I live about an hour outside of Chattanooga (northwest), I would be pleased to show you around and talk about public land options - of which there are several in that section of TN. PM me and I'll pass along my cell number.

Hunting with the bow and arrow involves earning your way by making meat, getting your hands messy in the process and then recognizing your own reflection upon them.

Oh and try to learn to say "Go Vols" with some true enthusiasm and a bit of maniacal glee and you'll fit right in.

WOW!  Looks like I hit the jackpot!  Thanks for all the great information.  David, I'll reach out when I get settled in.  Still plenty to work thru just getting the family relocated.

Bert-
Pay no attention to the comments from those two Philistines, they know not what they say, but they were lucky enough to move to the promised land....

Bert, Tn is my adopted state.  I've lived here for 13 years and my wife is from here.  It's a great place with great folks.

I'm pretty familiar with N.C. but don't exactly know where Denver is, but Chattanooga will probalby seem like home if it's in western N.C.

You'll have to look us up when you get settled in.  There are some requirements for Tn residents who shoot traditional.  Twin Oaks, TTAS banquet, and a few other non-disclosed adventures are mandatory!

Oh man, wish it was me.  Hunting, mountains, whitewater, rockclimbing, no blizzards every Monday all winter long.  Would be my 1st choice.  Lucky man.  Enjoy!
