Utah draw, cards are being hit

Well it's that time of year. I drew my general archery deer tag, but no such luck on big bull or my OIL (once in a lifetime). Good luck to everyone who put in for here!

The only hit I've gotten so far is New Mexico bull elk...but they do a charge for everyone and then a credit if you don't draw...it did get my blood pumping at first when I saw that though!

Thanks for the heads up. Just checked and had a hit for $408.00. Looks like I am finally going Moose Hunting in Utah after 12 years of putting in.

I thought I had a pretty good chance at a Book Cliffs mule deer tag this year but so far nothing on my card. Last year all of the applicants who had more points than me got tags, plus even a couple of people with the same number of points.

Sure wish they would take my money!  Oh well, next year my chances should be really good.

How many points do you have Whip? That would be a great hunt. I have 8pts for elk. Just started accumulating pts for deer.

Congrats SMA! That would be a fun hunt. Whip once you draw you will have a great hunt out on the Books, rugged unit.

SMA you lucky dog    I'm still waiting to hear if lighting struck. I should only draw my archery buck tag, I back on the building pionts stage agian. My dad insisted on putting on his card since I paid for the last few so I might have to wait for the email. I have just been too busy with work and playing with birds to call him.

Snag, I think I have 8 or 9 points. I have to look back, but I think last year there were only 3 people who applied for that hunt with more points than what I had. Should have left me and a handful of other people at the top of the pile this year. But of course there could be who knows how many others jump in that had just been banking points so won't really know what happened until the reports come out.

Hope is alive! I had looked at the Books and talked to a guy who has hunted it quite a bit. You should have a great hunt Whip.

Snag, are you sure NM charges everyone who applies for Bull Elk?
I never got drawn last year, and no charges either-maybe you did better than you realize?

I think NM changed the way they do it this year.  At least I know they did for deer.  So a hit to the card doesn't guarantee a tag like it did in the past.

The regulations say they do an upfront charge for species like Oryx...nothing about elk though?

In utah they only charge your card for the tag if you draw. They take out the handling fee's when you put in. Thats why are odds can be tough because it's cheap to put in.
