Hello Gang,

Has anyone tried or used E 6000 glue on their feild points? I used it to re-apply two field points that came off. All seems well but I am not about to do too many more with it since I am unsure.

poison arrow,

E6000 is an excellent silicon adhesive, however I don't think Willamette Valley, the manufacturer, intended it to be used as an arrow point glue. I have used it on all kinds of things rubber/neopreme with great success in many industrial applications.  I also glued down a rubber pad to stop water from backing up on my carport almost 15 years ago. It is in the weather every day and has yet to fail.  It works best when used as a contact type adhesive, applying to both surfaces letting it tack over then apply.

The thing about E6000 is it is a silicon and an adhesive.  And it stretches 20 times its length.  When it came out, they used a ribbon of the material to show how much it stretched without breaking. It will not get brittle so you may be on to something.

Keep us posted. This is an excellent idea. Do you shoot 3D?  How does it work?

I know one of the chemist that works on the coatings side of the WV business, not the adhesive.  He and his wife both shot competively, she actually was an excellent olympic style recurve shooter and was sponsored by Martin several years ago. I will send him an email as you have my curiousity raised.

Thank you for the reply Billy,
I use E 6000 for all kinds of application and similiarly to the ones you spoke of.

I thought of the fact of E 6000 being somewhat elastic and durable would work well for me with the heat in South Florida. Unlike ferrul cement that can be undone with heat the E6000 will probably be on for good.

I am in the proccess of making up a a batch of arrows. I usually use ferrul tite and it can be a chore with the heating and re heating. I will do up a dozen with E6000 and put them to the test. I shoot hay bails and homemade expanding foam 3D targets.
