Bison Gear Lost River pack?

I know this has been asked before but... I have looked at packs for a long time trying to find the perfect one. I have considered every one "no kidding" I would like some opinion's on the Lost River. I want a day/fanny pack big enough to pack a day's worth of gear for me and my 11 year old son. I also want the option to use it on a 2 or 3 day hunt. I haven't actually seen one so I need a little help! Thank's, Jason

I bought one about three years ago and have never regretted the purchase. They are tough, quiet and hold a lot of gear: more than enough for a day trip and enough if you were to get stuck out for a night or two. I have used mine in all kinds of weather and conditions and I love it.

To be frank though, if you are contemplating a 2 - 3 day hunt, you might want something larger. Unless you plan to sleep under the stars, sans sleeping bag & tent. You could strap a sleeping bag to the top as it does have fasteners for this purpose.

Anyhow, it is a great pack and very well made. Oh ya, it is also made in the USA. Bonus.

I would just echo what baffinland archer said.
Great pack-but if I was packin in with tent and sleeping bag I would go bigger. I have a cabelas frame pack thats great for a few days pack.

I've used one for 6 years and never had one loose stitch. They can be attached to a frame. I had Gray Wolf Woolens make me a bag out of Wolfskin that clips inside the pack and to the shoulder straps. This takes the place of the bloodproof game bag that comes with it. It's quiet and adds a lot of room if needed.

I have a large Alice pack for longer stay's. I just want the lost river for a large day or maybe 1 or 2 night stay! Thank's for the replies, Jason

I would not part with my Lost River. Well made pack that holds alot.The game bag feature is excellent as well. I packed out the sheep in my avatar in one trip in the game bag, boned out and cape with full head. Saved me a second trip for sure.

guys, I don't mean to be hijacking this thread, but I had a question. Do these short packs have a frame in them?

The ONLY down side to that pack is it is heavy..empty. It has plenty of room to carry your stuff, it hangs low and out of the way while walking and ducking brush and limbs, it is quiet, I can't seem to get it dirty and the included bag opens upward thru the zipped open top and probably triples the amount of carrying capacity when it comes time to carry out boned meat.

A great pack.

No frame inside.

Coat in game bag, yes but no need to. Straps under and on top of pack hold coat just fine.

i once had whitetail 2 hind quarters and 2 backstraps in an "outfitter' with the shoulder straps...so these packs can stand up to abuse.might be able to squeeze an elk in the lostriver?then strap the coat on.

Jason, Rusty and I all have the lost river packs. We've used them everywhere and have yet to find need for anything else. We'll have em on our backs this fall in Alaska for Moose.

They are the best in my opinion. I have had mine for about 5 years and use it out west for elk and also when chasing hogs in the swamp.
