i know im going to get many opinions but looking for some advice on arrow wieght. I shoot a whispstik mojo 55@28 i drao 27 going to be getting cx heritage 250s 175 grain broadhead 3 5" fletch thinking of using brass inserts to up arrow wieght and foc if i use the 100 grain insert it will be total arrow wieght around 585 grains if i use the 50 grain 535 grains may max range is 25 yards would a 585 grain arrow out of a roughly 53lb bow be to heavy what you guys think? thanks for the   :help:

WESTBROOK

Too heavy? Nope thats a good weight, providing thats where they tune-in at. A 250 is a stiff shaft, I bet you could do it with a 150.

It should be a very good weight.I have 48# and 53# Mojo Sticks and shoot 700 gr arrows out of both. That is heavier than many people like but the bows handle it well and I try to keep shots 25 yds and under also,so it just isn't an issue.

Your bow should shoot those arrows with good speed and it is a good hunting weight arrow.

Anytime your arrows weigh in 8-10 grains per pound you will be fine. Your arrow should work real well for you.

they'll do the trick, and keep that broad head sharp.....I shoot a 625gr. arrow off my 53lb northern mist longbow and flys great.
Hollenbeck 64" longbow 50#@28"
Northern Mist 66"longbow 53#@27"
Early 80's 64"Custom Bighorn 66#@29"

My form must be terrible because I keep getting told to drop spine on arrows for my weight and draw length. Usually between 45-55#@28.
90's, 3355's, and 150's did nothing but frustrate me. Carbons I have left are GT 5575 with 300 front, and they work fine.
90% of the arrows in my rack are either bamboo or woodies and they all spine out between 65-75#.
When I need to weaken them, I add # up front.
Go with what works for you. I may lose a bit of speed, but they land where they are pointed with authority.

585 would be great; and my choice.  Arrow should be at least 29.5" long and about 620 grains as described.
'10 Howard Hill Wesley Special 70" 45@28; '09 Turkey Creek 62" 55@28; '09 Brush Country Wasp II 64" 54@28; '07 Turkey Creek Dbl Carbon 64" 56@28; '64 Wing Red Wing Hunter 58" 38@28; '62 Wing Red Wing Hunter 58" 50@28

Within stickbow range - a heavy arrow is the ticket!  Just make sure your arrow flight is good - that is the arrow recovers fast and the shaft quickly follows the point.  Sharp BH - done deal.  H
