Tough Winter

My gutters are collapsing from the snow on the roof now.  The roof is a metal one and you physically can't get on the upper level, too high and steep and the lower level you would be risking your life.  Better to buy new gutters this spring.

As it melts I expect floods in the basement too.

Its been a real bad winter here in north Iowa,the ditches are full of snow and anytime we get any wind or dusting of snow it shuts everthing down, my wife is a part time teacher, and kids have been missing alot of school because of all the snow,I have been feeding the deer and turkeys since mid Jan. is starting to get a little expensive, but me and neighbors still do are part to help the wildlife, I have already found a few young deer dead on my land and we have alot of winter left,

Crazy weather.  Here I sit in upstate New York with maybe 4-6" total snow depth, and all the storms are passing to my south. Not complaining, just commenting.

Pretty easy to lose an arrow around here right now.      

I've been watching our deer try to cope with the unusual snow pack.  They have been digging through the snow to reach browse and some forbs but the last storm has made that even more calorie consuming.  Most have made their way to patches with greenbrier and browse within reach, including the neighbors azaleas.  Also, the high winds that create deep drifts also reduce depth in places and make browse available.  Unless your area has poor "range" conditions and too many deer they will suffer a little hunger but should do O.K. as long as the snow doesn't get heavily iced over.  The length of time that snow covers available browse could become a factor - if these conditions persist through March then there may be a little concern in some areas.

Last year I think we about 2", so far this year we have had 89" of snow. It will be awhile before I can shoot outdoors again. Thank Gosd for big basements.

that was after a foot and a half had melted(day before this last storm) still about a foot and a half.  And now . . .
