I bought some of the GT 35/55 blems and bareshafted them.  They fly great.

I've been practicing with them and I often tilt the bow to 45 degrees or more since my style of hunting often leads to me shooting like that.  What I've noticed is a whack sound, like the arrow is hitting the handle.  It seems to start when I get to about 30 degrees.

What have I got going on here?

Are you canting everything or just the bow? As you cant the bow if every thing does not go with it, head, shoulders, wrist, anchor and so on, you could end up torqueing the string which could do all sorts of things. Just an idea.

There are a few things that can cause that. One is bad tune. Though in your case that does not sound like the case since it is not happening all the time.

As rick said before it sounds like a torque issue. When you start canting at extreme angles you have to start bending at the waist to make up for what your head cannot do. Maintain the allignment from the tip of the arrow through your elbow. If that is drifting you will end up forcing the arrow up or down when it leaves the string.

Some things to check I hope this helps.

I agree with the torque issue.  Grab the bow with a loose grip, pull the string back about a foot and let it center in your hand before you grip it firmly.  Worked for me

Well, I was downstairs working on the fishwheel and just read this.  Went back and did the bend at the waist.  Got clear down to 90 degrees and no slap.

Thanks

Live and learn, although I still seem to make a lot of the old mistakes.

Glad it was an easy solve.
