I have been working on a different anchor point. I am hitting and setting anchor at a front tooth with a much more open stance. The result is I have shortened my draw length (30 ½ to 29").

I have a bad neck due to previous injury (when you race motorcycles you will crash) and on top of all that I m not getting any younger.

I realize that the longer draw equals a better use of the limbs. I can still shoot with my longer draw style but not as comfortable as the change to the shorter draw and more open stance.

The question is has any one else here deliberately shortened their draw.

I did not deliberately shorten my draw, but I did shatter my left collar bone and when it finally got to the point where it was "healed", the bone had overlapped itself and was half an inch shorter. That made my draw length half an inch less.

It sounds to me like you have adopted a better shooting stance. Don't worry about the speed or efficiency of the longer draw. At 29" you still have a longer draw than most people, and if you think it is more comfortable, then you will almost certainly shoot better. That will translate into more success on targets and game.

I agree with amar911 sounds like you will shoot better. You will not be pulling as many pounds that may be why it fells better also. You could try less pounds at your longer drawl and see how that feels. I would love to trade my 26.5 for your 29 inch anyday but Im not that tall and it workes for me.  Widow

I agree with Allen.Anchor where it feels best. Most trad bow shooters I know have 27" to max 28" draw length. The bow will perform well at 28" let alone 29".Go with what feels and shoots best for you !!
