Does anyone know or seen of a 3 blade sharpening system that uses wet sand paper glued to wood blocks?  If so, where could I find this so I can make a system like it.  From what I remember, it started with 200 grit paper and went to 600 grit.

I think Whip has been doing something similar. Sounds like a plan, time to try it.

Works better on a 4" piece of PVC.

What types of papers and what grit do I need to have to get 3 blades sharp?

No pics right now, but all you need is a 4" or 6" dia piece of pipe maybe a foot or 15" long.

Mount the sandpaper lenghtwise on the pipe.

The black automotive sandpaper is adheisive backed.  They are maybe 4"x10".  I had 3 grits mounted on one piece of pipe.  I want to say 240 grit, 800 grit and 1600 grit.  Then just push the broadhead the length of the sandpaper, rotating the broadhead between strokes, then moving to finer grit.

I did this before Roger Rothhaar showed me how to do the same thing on a bench grinder.  It is MUCH easier and faster with the bench grinder.

Here is the best way to sharpen a 3 blade like a Snuffer or Woodsman:

Monty Browning was at Kalamazoo this past weekend and does his the same way, going to a finer wheel and not even using the flat stone.

Steve,
Thanks for the link.  Wish I would have seen that a couple years ago.

No problem.  I've got it bookmarked and try to link it up when I see these type questions.  It is hard to improve on the way Roger does things.  I've found over the years he thinks things thru pretty darn good

I use a piece of plate glass and finer and finer grits of sandpaper sharpening two edges at a time until I get down to 2000 grit. When done they are scary sharp.
