I read an article about people who have tattoos. Seems like over 85% wish they had not done it since it is irreversible for all practical purposes.
Think about that.

I have put bushings in recurves, but I would not do that to any of me longbows.
NO

I use to put them in my personal bows because I really like the Great Northern sidemount quiver. I put to much time in them overlays to cover them up with straps!

I quit doing it when Lost Creek bowyer Chad Francis and I were hunting and he had dropped his bow, it must have landed just right on the quiver and the insert popped out taking a big chunk of the riser wood with it!

So, no, not anymore!

I just sold my Martin Venom (great bow) but not in line with how I personaly view longbows,,,it had the bulk to drill mounting holes and it wouldn't of distracked from it's over all look or feel.
The bow I've just replaced it with is a straight limbed, mild locator gripped bow designed an built in the tradition of the American flat bow.
There's no way in a million years I would drill this bow.
It's personal thing,,,you do what you want,,it's your bow.
Winning or losing is not the important thing,,the important thing is how well you played the game.
